The 2014 celebration of International Education Week at Plymouth State offers a wide array of events.  Whether tasting coffees and desserts from around the world to scholarly dialogue and discussion on journalism as a foundation for freedom, there are events each day.  This year, the Karl Drerup Gallery, Sodexo and Healthy PSU are collaborative partners in several events throughout the week.  Events and activities include:

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH:

9:30am ~ Annual Parade of Flags (HUB): Come Be A Global Citizen!

10:00am ~ Global Coffee Hour (HUB FPL):  Sample coffees from around the world

11:30-1pm ~ International Tabling Day (HUB)

7-9:00pm ~ World Jeopardy (Bradford Room in Centre Lodge):  Show your global smarts, win prizes!

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH:

5-7:00pm ~ Talk Radio Show: Philosophy 4 Life hosted by Philosophy Professor Dr. Maria Sanders on PLYMOUTH STATE RADIO –   91.7 WPCR-Plymouth.  Guest:  Dr. Whitney Howarth, Professor of World/Indian History PSU

Topic:  Indigenous land struggles: the question of identity, human rights, and globalization

5-7:00pm ~ How To Grow A Money Tree, A Spotlight on Small Business Entrepreneurism in Africa (lecture by Nofisat Adekunle, MBA student) (Boyd 144)

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH:

12:30-1:30pm ~ Language Circle with Petro Masumbuko:  Tanzania!! (Center for Global Engagement)

4-5:30pm ~ The Role of Journalism in Achieving Freedom, lecture by Omar Bah from The Gambia (Hyde 220)

6-7:00pm ~ International Fashion Fete!  Wear your favorite international outfit and enjoy music, food and friends!  (HUB)

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20TH:

11:30-2pm ~ 4th Annual Global Chef Dessert Competition!  (Prospect Hall)  Come vote for your favorite Student Chef Team!

4-6:00pm ~ Global Yoga with Katrina Myers: Learning about the origins and health benefits of yoga, take a class, enjoy light refreshments.  Yoga mats provided (HUB Hage Room)

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21th:

12-1:00pm ~ Stress-Reduction African Drumming Workshop for faculty and staff (PSU Welcome Center):  Learn some basic rhythms and have fun with your colleagues! Bring a drum or use one of ours!
