Human Movement and Active Living Laboratory

The Human Movement and Active Living Laboratory serves as a working laboratory for students and faculty engaged in educational and research activities. Under the supervision of faculty, students gain valuable practical experience in a variety of laboratory techniques. The current federally funded project is using a novel piece of equipment, the Tek Scan MatScan® System (see below) to measure balance in elders as well as college-aged individuals.

The Tek Scan MatScan® System is a device that not only allows for the mapping of the pressure under the foot in a weight bearing position, but also provides for tracking the translation of center of pressure during semi-dynamic and dynamic movement activities.
