International Students

Plymouth State University welcomes international students to its campus! The University offers excellent graduate programs in education, science and business. Graduate program application packet lists all the items that are needed for admissions, including scores from the GRE or MAT standardized tests. Admissions tests are not required for applicants to the MBA degree program.

The application process for international students is slightly different than the process for domestic students. In addition to the program specific admission documentation, international students must provide the following information:

  • Proof of English language proficiency. All international students from countries where English is not the primary language must provide evidence of English proficiency. The University accepts the following methods of proving English language proficiency:
  • Financial Documentation. All international students must provide documents ensuring that they have the financial resources to study for a year at PSU. These documents may include bank statements and other certified documents that are dated within the past 30 days. If you have a sponsor who is a U.S. citizen, they must complete an I-134 (PDF 129Kb) must be completed by US sponsors. This form may be obtained www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-134.pdf
  • Passport. A copy of your valid passport must be included in the application materials.
  • Educational Documents. All transcripts from schools outside of the United States must be evaluated for equivalency to US schools. There are many companies which provide this service. Two we often recommend to students are:

Upon admission into a Plymouth graduate program, international students will receive a confirmation letter. This letter must be signed by the newly admitted student, indicating that he or she intends to attend Plymouth State University, and must be returned to Graduate Studies. Once that confirmation letter is received, the I-20 process may begin.
