Graduate Athletic Training Education

Working under the direction of a physician, an athletic trainer requires a multitude of skills to work with physically active individuals. Employment may vary from the traditional team coverage at academic institutions to providing services in outpatient rehabilitation clinics, work hardening centers and functioning as physician extenders. The athletic trainer may be involved in pre-game taping and strapping, practice and game medical coverage, short term and long tern rehabilitation, and injury assessment. An athletic trainer initiates injury prevention as well as strength and conditioning programs, and provides consultations for nutritional concerns and injury coping strategies. As a health care provider, the athletic trainer functions as a liaison between the coaching staff or employers, and the client.

  • The Entry-level Master's option is for those seeking a CAATE-accredited program.
