Special admissions requirements for international students

The application process for international student in the school counselor and school psychologist summer graduate programs is slightly different than the process for domestic students. Additional admission requirements for international students include:

  1. TOEFL test scores. All international students from countries where English is not the primary language must take a TOEFL test. Information regarding the TOEFL may be obtained at ets.org/toefl. If you wish to practice for the new TOEFL, visit toeflpractice.ets.org.
  2. Financial Documentation. All international students must provide documents ensuring that they have the financial resources to study for a year at PSU. These documents may include bank statements and other certified documents that are dated within the past 30 days. In addition an I-134 must be completed by U.S. sponsors. This form may be obtained at uscis.gov.
  3. Passport. A copy of your valid passport must be included in the application materials.
  4. Educational Documents. All transcripts from schools outside of the U.S. must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. schools. There are many companies that provide this service, including:

PSU's standard application form must be completed as well. It lists all the items that are needed for admission, including scores from the GRE or MAT standardized tests.

Once your application has been approved you will be issued an I-20 document. The I-20 is needed to apply for an F-1 student visa. Your F-1 visa will need to be renewed annually for each summer term you plan to study in the U.S.
