Cohort Model

Annually, 12 qualified individuals will be identified through the admissions process and review of application materials.

Two cohort models exist: a year-round model and a summer model. Doctoral candidates in the year-round model will take courses on campus throughout the calendar year; candidates in the summer will take courses on campus during summers only. Students who live at a considerable distance from the campus, including international students, will be encouraged to apply for the summer cohort.

The core courses, specialization coursework, and externship are offered during each term. Doctoral candidates in the year-round cohort take one core course per term during the academic year and two to three courses in the summer. Doctoral candidates in the summer cohort take three courses each summer and conduct research, participate in practica or externships, or enroll in online courses during the academic year. Courses are offered in a variety of formats, including hybrid (a blend of classroom and computer-based learning), weekend, or weekday evening offerings. It is expected that students will typically complete the coursework and dissertation within a four to six year period. The total time taken to complete the degree may not exceed eight years.

Housing

There are a variety of housing options available to graduate students, including on- and off-campus housing. On-campus housing is assigned through the Department of Residential Life. Off-campus housing is operated by individual landlords or property management companies. Students interested in housing should contact residential life at plymouth.edu/reslife or (603) 535-2260. Students who live at a considerable distance from the campus, including international students, will be encouraged to apply for the summer cohort.
