General Science Education: 5–9 CertificationProgram Coordinator: Dr. Warren Tomkiewicz, warrant@plymouth.edu The M.Ed. leads to certification to teach General Science in grades 5–9. Required college level course work or equivalent competencies (audit, portfolio or exam): Completion of college algebra or higher level mathematics; general biology with labs I and II; general chemistry with labs I and II; earth science; astronomy; oceanography; meteorology; physical science; laboratory safety; and history and philosophy of science; plus 9-12 credits of undergraduate or graduate specialization courses.
