Profile
Cathy Higgins has worked in the Office of Educational Technology at the N.H. Department of Education since 1997. As the state educational technology coordinator, she provides leadership and support to schools with regard to educational technology and library media programs. This involves multiple initiatives and activities such as managing federal educational technology grants to schools, reviewing district technology plans, conducting statewide annual school technology surveys, and more which can be viewed at www.nheon.org/oet. Her interests include the impact of the Internet on education and human development, digital portfolios, and the use of information technology to promote 21st century literacies. By August 2007, she expects to have completed her doctoral dissertation in which she examines how the development of digital portfolios by middle school students impacts student engagement and student achievement.
