Profile

Dr. Eric Hoffman teaches courses in synoptic meteorology, climatology, mesoscale meteorology and television forecasting. Before coming to PSU, Dr. Hoffman was a professional meteorologist for the National Meteorological Center of the National Weather Service. He also worked briefly as a broadcast meteorologist on WGY-AM radio in Schenectady, N.Y.

Research Interests

  • Use of surface potential temperature in weather analysis and forecasting
  • Use of climatological, real-time, and forecast weather for decision making
  • Examination of mesoscale weather and air quality events in New Hampshire and New England
