Profile

Gerard Buteau has been a member of the faculty in the Plymouth State Education Department since 1992. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Plymouth State College and a doctoral degree from Boston University with a concentration in Early Childhood Studies. During his doctoral program he worked with Kevin Ryan and Judith Schickedanz.

He has previous teaching experience in the public schools at Inter-Lakes Elementary School. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has been the Director of the Child Development and Family Center.

He cites his major areas of interest as early literacy development, character development studies, early childhood curriculum and instruction, administration in early childhood settings, and assessment of preschool and elementary school children.
