Profile

Dr. Goodnough is a coordinator of the School Counseling graduate program at Plymouth State University. He has been a National Certified Counselor (NCC) since 1994 and he received his mental health counseling license in NH (LCMHC) in 1999. Dr. Goodnough teaches courses in school and career counseling and regularly consults with school districts on comprehensive school counseling programs. He is a practicing mental health counselor at the Counseling and Human Relations Center at Plymouth State.

Integral approaches to school counseling, Principal/school counselor preparation issues, group counseling in schools, leadership and advocacy for school counselors.


Publications


Dr. Goodnough is the author of over 30 articles and book chapters and recently co-edited a book entitled Leadership Advocacy and Direct Service Strategies for Professional School Counselors. His work has been published in several counseling journals including Professional School Counseling, Counselor Education and Supervision, The Career Development Quarterly, and Journal for Specialists in Group Work.

  • Prior to being a professor of Counselor Education, Dr. Goodnough worked in public schools as an elementary school teacher in Maryland and as a school counselor and director of guidance in Virginia.
