Profile

James Whiting has two decades of experience in TESOL as a teacher and teacher trainer. He is a licensed ESL teacher in Vermont. James has trained teachers and taught English to non-native speakers in New York City, Vermont, Spain, Russia, Quebec and Panama. He was on the faculty of the graduate TESOL programs at Concordia University in Montreal and New York University. He was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Panama in Panama City, Panama, where his work focused on enhancing English language teaching practices for K-12 teachers. In addition, he was a Senior Fellow in the Office of English Language Programs at the U.S. State Department, responsible for improving English language teacher training in northwest Russia. His research interests include education for English language learners in rural settings, and the impact of dyslexia on English language learners.
