Profile

Dr. Sandy is coordinator of the School Psychology and Parenting Education Certificate programs, oversees the Peace Studies minor, and is a Consulting School Psychologist. Dr. Sandy has been teaching since 1971. He currently teaches at undergraduate level, in the general education program, and at the graduate level. Courses Dr. Sandy teaches include: Applied Child Development, Introduction to School Psychology, Seminar and Internship in School Psychology, Working with Families: Legal and Ethical Issues, Advanced Human Development, Foundations and Multicultural Aspects of Parenting, Counseling Theories, Philosophical Aspects of War and Peace, and Building a Civil Society.

  • BA in Psychology in 1970 from UMass at Boston
  • Ed.M. in Counselor Education and School Psychology in 1971 at Boston University
  • Ed.D. in Human Development and Education in 1983 from Boston University

Research Interests

Moral development, self-esteem, parenting, conflict resolution, and peace studies.

Dr. Sandy is a consulting school psychologist for the Inter-Lakes School District in Meredith, NH, a volunteer parent educator for inmates at Laconia Prison, and a column writer for the Laconia Day Sun.
