Profile
Terry Downs has been on the faculty of Plymouth State University since 1971. He has taught printmaking, studio fundamentals and several team-taught Integrative Studies courses with faculty from psychology, history, English and music. He was instrumental in founding the Plymouth Area Friends of the Arts. He has served as president of the New Hampshire Art Association and its acting director. He was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship to MIT. He founded the Horizons Art Gallery in Campton, N.H. He was the initial exhibitions director for Plymouth State, when the gallery was housed in Lamson Library. He currently holds memberships in the Ogunquit (Maine) Arts Collaborative; The Rivertree Center for the Arts, Kennebunk, Maine; The Alliance for the Visual Arts, Lebanon, N.H; The Boston Printmakers Association; and the New Hampshire Art Association. His drawing tours have taken him to Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, England, Ireland, Quebec, Nicaragua and Cuba. He exhibits frequently in the region. He served as chair of the Art Department from 1996-1999.
