Terry Downs has been on the faculty of Plymouth State University since 1971. He has taught printmaking, studio fundamentals, and several team-taught integrative studies courses with faculty from psychology, history, English, and music. He was instrumental in founding the Plymouth Area Friends of the Arts as well as the Horizons Art Gallery in Campton, NH. He was also awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship to MIT. Downs was the initial exhibitions director for Plymouth State, when the gallery was housed in Lamson Library. He currently holds membership in fine arts associations all over New England and his drawing tours have taken him to Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, England, Ireland, Quebec, Nicaragua, and Cuba.
