Profile

Phil Lonergan has an MFA in Sculpture from the State University of New York at Albany, and he has been at Plymouth State since 2000. Phil has recently shown work at the New York State Museum, the Fuller Museum, the Portsmouth Children’s Museum, and the AVA Gallery, where he won a 2012 Juror’s Prize. Phil’s work investigates the relationships between common functional objects—like chairs and kitchen utensils—and the interpretive world of art; by manipulating scale and material, he transforms recognizable elements into metaphors and narratives. Phil lives in Campton with his partner, English Professor Robin DeRosa, and their daughter.
