Scholarships and Grants through Plymouth State University

Each year, the College of Graduate Studies awards a limited number of merit-based scholarships to admitted graduate students in the form of one-, two-, and three-credit tuition waivers for 5000- to 7000-level graduate courses. Selection criteria include academic and professional achievements, commitment to graduate study, and personal or professional goals.

Graduate Scholarship

Completed applications and supporting materials must be submitted by April 15 for review by the College of Graduate Studies Scholarship Committee. Scholarship recipients will be notified of the award by June 15. Scholarship tuition waivers are non-transferable and must be used during the summer, fall, winter, or spring graduate terms or semesters within the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) after the scholarship is awarded. Graduate Research Fund

The purpose of the Graduate Research Fund is to provide stipends to graduate students to cover the cost of out-of-pocket expenses related to their research projects which are part of the requirements for completion of their degrees. Students must complete an application form and provide an abstract of their proposed research, budget, and other required information by April 15. Apply now!

Senior Citizen Grants for study at Plymouth State

Residents of New Hampshire who are 65 years of age and older are eligible for a grant for tuition for one course per term at Plymouth State University. This policy applies only to credit courses, including graduate courses, and does not apply to students admitted into degree programs. Additional discounts do not apply to courses paid for by a senior citizen grant. Students are responsible for any additional mandatory fees.

Dennise Maslakowski Graduate Education Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the Dennise Maslakowski Graduate Education Scholarship Fund is to honor Dennise's commitment to teaching and to the encouragement and development of talented and motivated teachers by providing a scholarship to a deserving New Hampshire resident enrolled in PSU's Graduate School of Education. The recipient should be striving to reach his/her full potential as a teacher, and should demonstrate exceptional character in pursuing his/her goal. The recipient shall be selected by faculty and staff of PSU's College of Graduate Studies.

Youth Purpose Research Award

Awards of up to $10,000 to study Youth Purpose

Purpose: A stable and generalized intention to accomplish something that is at once meaningful to the self and of intended consequence beyond the self.

The Stanford Center on Adolescence encourages research on adolescent intention, involvement with beyond-the-self causes, and topics that lead to the development of purpose.

Applicants:

  • May be advanced (dissertation level) doctoral students, postdoctoral students or junior faculty (degree after 2004) from all disciplines
  • May request up to $10,000 for research-related expenses
  • Must be affiliated with an accredited college or university
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Deadline: January 15, 2009 for research to start June 2009 and conclude by September 2010.
