Citation
What, specifically, is the point of academic citation? It seems tedious, difficult, and needlessly complicated, right? Put simply, the goal of citation is to allow your reader to check/synthesize/further research your work with ease and speed. To that end, your goal in citing every resource must be to clearly and correctly direct a reader to your research source.

In-Text citations
Citations made within the body text of your paper should clearly point your reader to the corresponding entry in your Reference List. Typically, in-text citations should either appear parenthetically or within the general body of your sentence and should typically follow the "last-name-followed-by-the-year-of-publication" pattern.
