Honoring Dr. Dennise Maslakowski

Dennise MaslakowskiSince our last e-newsletter, the PSU community experienced a significant loss. On December 19, 2008, Dr. Dennise Maslakowski died peacefully at her home with her family after a courageous struggle with cancer. Dennise had spent over three decades working in education, 25 of those years at Plymouth State, where she was a faculty member, coordinator of elementary education, reading specialist, director of Graduate Studies, and then associate vice president for the College of Graduate Studies.

To honor Dennise's commitment to teaching and to the encouragement and development of talented and motivated teachers, her family, friends, and colleagues have established the Dennise Maslakowski Graduate Education Scholarship Fund. This endowed fund will provide a scholarship each year to a deserving New Hampshire resident enrolled in a master's or doctoral education program in Plymouth State University's College of Graduate Studies.

To date, nearly $20,000 has been raised in Dennise's honor. This overwhelming support will allow for a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded at this year's Graduate Commencement. To apply for the scholarship please complete and submit the application form and one letter of recommendation by April 1, 2009.

For more information about this fund or to make a contribution, contact PSU's Office of Advancement at (800) 772-2620 or (603) 535-2589.
