Introducing George Tuthill, Interim AVP for the College of Graduate Studies

George Tuthill, Interim Associate Vice President for the College of Graduate StudiesGeorge Tuthill has been named interim Associate Vice President for the College of Graduate Studies. George has spent the last year and a half in the College of Graduate Studies as a special assistant in Academic Affairs. During that time he has worked with the Pakistani Educational Leadership Institute, assisted with the College's organization and planning, and been part of expanding our graduate site in Concord. He is committed to the College of Graduate Studies and has administrative experience that will be beneficial to the ongoing planning for academic affairs reorganization.

George earned his PhD from M.I.T. and BA from Williams College, and spent over 30 years as a faculty member in the physics department of Montana State University. In 2004, he was named an associate dean of MSU's College of Letters and Science, and also served one year as Interim Dean before retiring and moving to New Hampshire. In addition to his work in physics research and teaching, George has been active in creating professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers of science. From 1995 to 2007 he was a co-director of the National Teachers Enhancement Network, a project initiated with funding from the National Science Foundation to provide online coursework for teachers in many science areas.

George and his wife Jenny have longtime family ties to this region of New Hampshire, and live in Alexandria.
