Submission Guidelines
Competitive Papers
Papers must be original, not under submission elsewhere, and should address issues significant to entrepreneurship and small business development. Papers should also be consistent with the overall theme and address at least one of the following topic areas:
- Significant contributions to the field of small business and entrepreneurship
- Interesting to organization members and conference attendees
- Illustrative of theories, concepts, and research in the field
- Seeks answers to meaningful research questions with discussion and implications clearly linked to findings
Competitive Workshops
Workshop proposals should address the conference theme and target one or more of the topic areas outlined above.
Proposals should:
- Include all activities to be conducted in the session
- Identify objectives and outcomes expected for participants as attendees
- Indicate all presenters and materials in the session
- An abstract of accepted competitive workshops will be published in the proceedings.
Roundtable Discussion Proposals and Invited Presenters
Specific times will be designated for roundtable discussions and for dialogue with invited presenters. This is an excellent opportunity for informal exchange of information, theories and works in progress affecting economic development, business consulting and education. Sessions are designed to encourage discussion between conference attendees, visitors, and the roundtable author(s) to further develop research themes or clarification.
An abstract of accepted paper, workshop, and roundtable proposals will be published in the proceedings.

Style, font size, formatting, and submission instructions for all competitive papers, workshops, roundtable discussions, abstracts, and full paper or workshop proposals:

- All competitive paper, workshop submissions should be entirely original, never before published, and must not be under consideration or scheduled for presentation elsewhere. Work should be submitted electronically before the July 15, 2008 deadline to Chuck Doyle with an identifying message in the e-mail subject line as noted in the paper submission guidelines. A confirmation of receipt of your submission(s) will be sent via e-mail.
- All submissions must be prepared in Microsoft Word format using Times New Roman 12 pt font and saved with a unique filename as described in the next item.
- Each file must be submitted with the contact author's last name. For example, save your abstract alone as a separate file e.g., nameabstract1.doc and e-mail it to Chuck Doyle, Conference Coordinator.
- Save your related full paper as a separate document with your abstract as the first section of the paper and just like the abstract, name your file using only the contact author(s) last name as the filename e.g., namepaper1.doc and e-mail it to Chuck Doyle.
- Send all files electronically to: Chuck Doyle with the appropriate message in the subject line e.g., "Conference Paper Eastern Bloc" or "Conference Paper Abstract Eastern Bloc".
- Remember: all authors, whether submitting a paper or workshop must include a separate abstract of 250 words or less which includes the title, topic, and briefly describes the author’s hypothesis, findings, and implications in an engaging manner. The abstract is designed to pique the reader's interest and permit the general audience to discern the nature of the paper or workshop. Be sure to include all author contact information in the abstract, including university affiliation, address, phone number, and e-mail.
- All submissions must be typed, single-spaced, with one inch margins on left and right, using regular Times New Roman 12 pt font. The entire paper, including the abstract should ideally be no longer than 12 pages, including references. Place tables and charts, etc. at the end of your paper [indicating where they should appear in the body of the paper - e.g., "Insert Table 1 here" or "Insert Chart 4 here"].
- If authors are students; please identify the student author by placing the word STUDENT in parentheses immediately after his/her/their name(s) on the abstract page.
- At least one author of each accepted paper or proposal must attend, register, and present at the conference.
- In the case of multiple submissions, each submission must be sent via separate e-mails.
