The Hartman Union Building is the home for many student life programs. The Community Service Center, Recreation Programs, Student Activities, and the Wellness Center are among the programs located in the HUB and offer a variety of opportunities for student involvement. The HUB also houses the Plymouth State Bookstore, Mail Center, computer clusters, meeting and activity space for student organizations and activities, Union Grille and Sidewalk Café, and student organization offices, including our student radio station (WPCR) and weekly newspaper, The Clock.
Community Service Center
The Community Service Center is dedicated to serving the community in which we live. The center sponsors a variety of service projects to meet the needs of the community and volunteers; and partners with national and international organizations on special initiatives.
Panther Print Shop and ID Center
You will need a valid PSU picture ID card to access campus services, including the Lamson Library and Learning Commons, the HUB’s recreation facilities, the PSU student ski package, and the PE Center. The Panther Print Shop and ID Center is located on the second floor of the HUB.
Recreation Programs
Recreation Programs offers activities for personal growth and development, refining leadership skills, and practicing good citizenship. Recreation Programs provides comprehensive and diverse recreation opportunities for the Plymouth State community—from informal to highly structured activities and programs. Facilities include fitness rooms and a cardiotheater, locker rooms, and a multi-purpose gymnasium. Activities include group exercise classes and intramural sports.
Student Organizations
As a graduate student, you are eligible to participate in any recognized student organization on campus. There are currently more than 80 groups to choose from, including Student Senate. Some groups are associated with particular academic majors, such as the Early Childhood group. There are also several social groups that are open to all who wish to join, such as Ending Genocide Around the World (EGAW) and ALSO, a GLBTQ support and social community. Finally, there are a variety of club sports ranging from gymnastics to rugby, and a snowboarding club.
Wellness Center
The Wellness Center mission is to improve and support the holistic health and well-being of Plymouth State students, helping them to achieve academic and personal success. Programs include Reiki, massage, light therapy, health education programming, wellness-oriented fairs, acupressure, life coaching, and other events.
Outdoor Center
The Outdoor Center is another program offered through the Hartman Union, but is located in the White Mountain Apartment Complex (No. 31). The Outdoor Center provides students with opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors surrounding Plymouth State’s campus as well as the New England region. In addition to offering an equipment use program with skis, snowshoes, paddling, and camping gear, the Outdoor Center sponsors cooperative adventure day and overnight trips to learn or practice skills such as climbing, paddling, surfing, skiing, and front and backcountry travel.
