Differences Between a Cold & the Flu

The flu and the common cold are both respiratory

    illnesses but are caused by different viruses

Both have flu-like symptoms. However the flu is worse.

Symptoms of the flu include, but are not limited to:

       ~ fever, body aches, extreme tiredness, dry cough

Symptoms of a cold include, but are not limited to:

       ~ milder flu-like symptoms, a runny or stuffy nose

If flu symptoms persist serious health problems may

   occur such as pneumonia & bacterial infections

 

bullet

If you feel that you are getting worse – increase

    temperature, increased congestion or develop a stiff

   neck or backache, contact Health Services (x 2350)
