Commit To Get Fit at PSU Summer Challenge will be offered as a pilot program for PSU Faculty and Staff
Meeting dates: Wednesdays, June 4 – August 28 from 5-7 PM at the PSU, Welcome Center/Ice Arena

The “Commit to Get Fit” program is an educational program that provides individuals with the tools and the support to live a healthier lifestyle. You would need to commit yourself to attend a 2 hour class once a week and engage in physical activity for at least 90 days to improve your nutrition, fitness level and learn how to cope with stress and ways to reduce it. The positive outcomes from this program happen to be weight loss, more energy and some individuals are now off of medications that they have been on for years. The program also provides pre and post blood work analysis and body scan that determines your basal metabolic rate.   You will also have an individualized nutrition and fitness plans based on your personal goals and health risks.  Additionally, you will receive support from your work-site wellness coach online or in person.

“Breakfast of Champions” Event

At the recent “Breakfast of Champions” event the Healthy PSU Steering Committee and President Steen were pleased to honor successes and welcome the new Wellness Champions who are leaders in promoting a “culture of health” across the PSU campus! 

A Wellness Champion is someone who has a sincere desire to support healthy lifestyle and disease prevention strategies in the workplace. This person has a strong commitment to improving his/her own health and a desire to help others achieve success as well, regardless of where he/she is on the path towards optimal well-being.

As Plymouth State University continues to distinguish itself as a wellness-centered environment…we are GOING FOR THE GOLD!

One of the goals of Healthy PSU is achieving WELCOA’s (Wellness Council of America) WELL WORKPLACE GOLD AWARD status.  A “Well Workplace” is an organization fully embracing its responsibility for maximizing the health and well-being of its employees. In a Well Workplace Award winning organization, it is evident that employee wellness has become part of the overall business strategy. Join us in celebrating National Walking Day on the first Wednesday in April.  On this day, people throughout the United States come together to take steps to living a healthier life by lacing up their sneakers, taking a walk and, most importantly, making a commitment to be physically active on a regular basis.  On April 2nd meet in front of the HUB at noontime for a walk!  Click here for walking tips, requesting “PSU Walks” workshops and to learn about our NEW designated sneaker days!

Healthy PSU
is sponsoring a 4-week series of noontime sessions for full-time faculty and staff*  interested in learning how to meditate! Gina will introduce a variety of ways to use meditation to become “stress resilient”, to increase happiness, decrease suffering and enjoy life more fully. Each session will include a brief talk/discussion followed by a relaxation and meditation experience. Each week will introduce a different type of meditation! If you are ready to adopt a new practice to improve health, this workshop series is for you!

When:  Wednesdays, April 9-April 30th

Time: 12 noon-1:00 pm

Where:  Frost Commons Lounge
