Vendor Table Policy

The Hartman Union allows outside vendors to come into the building and provide services and information to our student and faculty/staff population.  Please note the following items before placing a request for a table:

  • If you are a visitor to PSU and wish to reserve a table in the Hartman Union, contact the HUB Administrative Assistant and Scheduler, Jennifer Smith, at jmsmith10@plymouth.edu or by calling ext.2376.
  • Charges for HUB vendor tables: $25.00 per six-feet of space, regardless of whether or not the HUB provides tables or if the vendor provides them (or if additional tables are provided by vendor).
  • If the vendor is selling any sort of product or service, they must acquire and provide documentation of a vendor license from the Town of Plymouth. For information, visit their site at http://www.plymouth-nh.org/ or call 603. 536-1731.
  • Vendors must remain at their assigned table and interact only with those students who approach the table. Vendors should not solicit students and pressure them in any way to visit the table.
  • Any out of the ordinary displays and/or promotional gimmicks MUST be approved through the HUB Administrative Assistant prior to arrival.
  • If a group or individual is sponsored by a registered PSU Student Organization, table fees are waived. In this case the request must come directly from the student organization.
  • The Hartman Union reserves the right to cancel any table reservation should there be significant student demand for the space. In addition, the HUB reserves the right to cancel any future scheduled table reservations should the vendor not comply with campus or HUB policy or fails to pay in advance for the use of their space.
Arriving late to a math class, a student mistook the unsolvable problems on the board for a homework assignment. He then took them home and solved them.
Truth >> Popularized by the movie, 'Good Will Hunting', this did actually occur at the University of California, Berkeley in 1939. George Bernard Dantzig, a doctoral candidate was late to class one day, and jotted down what he assumed was a homework assignment. When he turned in the assignment, he apologized to the teacher for turning it in late, but he said that the problems were harder than usual and took him a bit more time than normal. Several days later, his extremely excited professor woke him up early to ask him to co-write a paper on the problems.
