Eight Necessary Items on All Publicity

The Name of the Sponsor:

Take credit for the activities you sponsor, people appreciate knowing what your group does and if you offer quality programming will look forward to your next event.

The Name and Kind of Act:

If it is not obvious, state what kind of performance is being held (i.e. "Hypnotist Tom DeLuca" vs. Just "Tom DeLuca"). Often, the type of program is much more important to your clientele than the person or persons who are performing.

Your Organization Logo:

Always use your logo; your campus will then associate your organization with quality programs.

The Date:

Be sure to include the day of the week, month, day, and year.

The Time:

List all times and do not forget AM/PM.

The Location:

Be specific - the name and number of a room in a building is always better than just the building name.

Admission:

Be sure to state if your event is free, and also if prices are different for various groups (i.e. students vs. general public).

"For More Information":

No matter how hard you try, no piece of publicity can tell the whole story. Give your audience a phone number where they can call to get more information. Think of this as your "goof-proof" clause.
