Getting Involved

There is now a good deal of research to suggest that the more time and effort students invest in the learning process and more intensely they engage in their own education, the greater will be their growth and achievement.

Highly involved students demonstrate their commitment in a variety of ways: by devoting considerable energy to studying, by working on-campus rather than off-campus jobs and by participating actively in student organizations.

The HUB

The Hartman Union Building is the center for student activities and recreation on campus. The mission of the Hartman Union is to educate for personal growth and responsible citizenship. We promote student development by offering involvement opportunities and presenting a diverse series of co-curricular programs and activities to enrich student life at Plymouth State University. Additionally, the Hartman Union is also committed to providing a great variety of services and conveniences to the campus.

There are over 100 different ways to get involved on campus and many student organizations have offices in the HUB. Involvement in any of these organizations can be a way to pursue interests – like photography, or snowboarding – and is also an excellent way to meet others with similar interests.

The facilities of the Hartman Union Building include fitness and aerobics rooms, locker rooms, a multipurpose gymnasium with two basketball courts, a study lounge with a computer cluster, the Mountain View Snack Bar, Campus Bookstore, Sidewalk Cafe, mail center with mailboxes for all students, meetings rooms and activity spaces. The Community Service Center and the Wellness Center are also located in the HUB. Student offices include The Clock – our student newspaper, PACE – the activities board, Conning Tower – the yearbook, Student Senate, WPCR – Plymouth State University radio, Spring Fling, ALSO – GLBT Social and Support Group, Gaming Club, Anime Club, PSU Poets & Writers, and many more.
