Major: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2011

Why I chose PSU:
I chose PSU because it is close to home, but still far enough away that I can become whoever I want to be. I love the mountains and I love living in “the middle of nowhere” as some people might say.

My life at PSU:
I’ve done so much here at PSU and I’m looking forward to doing more as I begin my third year. The last two years I’ve had here at PSU have been fantastic, and I’ve very much enjoyed meeting all the people that I have met. I enjoy all my classes within my major and outside my major.

What I do in Plymouth and at PSU:
I was a volunteered at the Pemi Youth Center when I was a Sophomore. I am also a Part-Time SERVE AmeriCorps member, and also was involved with Project Mentor in the Spring of 2009. I very much enjoy volunteering around the community, and getting involved on campus. I also work on campus in many locations and work at Loon Mountain during the skiing/snowboarding season. Snowboarding is fun too. ☺

Your favorite PSU experience:
I don’t think I could pick just one experience here at PSU as my favorite. I love all the areas where I am involved, although, I did enjoy being an Orientation Leader a lot.

Which organizations do you belong to?
My sophomore year I was the Battle of the Bands Coordinator for Spring Fling, and also worked in the HUB Information Booth and the Student Activities Office as an office assistant. This year I am a mentor for the PASSPORT Program though the PASS Office, as well as an office assistant in the PASS Office. I am also the Student Activities Office Intern and the Student Competition Chair for PACE. I also volunteer around the community. I was also an Orientation Leader for the class of 2013.

What activities have been most valuable to you?
I don’t think I could choose one activity that has been the most valuable to me. I was able to do something new with every activity that I was involved in. Being a PASSPORT Mentor and an Orientation Leader have helped me decide what I would like to do as a career, and that is to go into Student Affairs. So in a way those two activities have been very valuable to me.

In what ways does PSU foster involvement and the ability for you to build community?
I know it sounds straight out of the packet, but there really is something for everybody. And if there isn’t anything that you want to do, like bocce, then you are more than welcome to try to start a new organization.

On-campus or off? Why?
I currently live in an on-campus student apartment, and I absolutely love it. I like being on campus because you are close to everything and everything you need, such as furniture, is included. It’s also a little bit less expensive.

Do you do any community service through the CSC or outdoor trips through the Outdoor Center?
I am a Part-Time SERVE AmeriCorps member, and I also try to get involved around the community as much as I can and volunteer my time as much as I can.

Do you visit the Fitness Center or do any Group Ex classes?
I visited the Fitness Center my first couple of year here at PSU. Now that I am in an apartment it is easier for me to work out in my apartment with everything that I need to work out with. I hear Group Ex classes are a lot of fun, I’m definitely going to try to go to a couple this year.
