Graduation Year: 2010

Why I chose PSU:
When I was originally looking for schools to go to, I was looking for something far away from home so I could try my hand at being independent and standing on my own to feet. I applied to PSU and shortly after I was accepted I came for a tour of the campus and it’s location and the campus itself just captivated me. I decided then and there that PSU was where I wanted to learn.

My life at PSU:
My life here has always been a hectic one. I’ve always needed to have a job to support any sort of lifestyle I wished to lead. My parents never gave me any sort of allowance and I was horrible at saving money in High School. So, Jobs coupled with a full class schedule every semester and being part of the Medieval Society and Radio Station, and trying to make friends in a state five hundred miles away from all the people I grew up with. Yeah, it’s always been pretty busy, but I’ve managed to survive and find time to explore lots of great things in the area.

What I do in Plymouth and at PSU:
Well, aside from being Head Tech for the HUB’s technical crew. I’m also the General Manger of WPCR and the Chancellor (Vice President) of the Medieval Society. I also will be interning at the Plymouth District Court House this semester.

Your favorite PSU experience:
Oh that’s a tough one. There have been so many great ones. Watching my friends’ band playing on a number of different stages, canoeing to and camping on Moon Island, running through the woods with friends, longboarding sessions across campus late at night, or maybe my freshman year when I walked down to the soccer fields late at night with a friend and just stood there, looking at the stars with her.

Which organizations do you belong to?
Like I said before, Chancellor of Medieval Society and General Manger of WPCR.

What activities have been most valuable to you?
Everything has been a wonderful experience. The number of things I’ve learned from the different student org’s I’ve been in. Once I rose to officer positions, I learned responsibility, organization and developed a lot of people skills. I’ve also just developed a lot of confidence in myself as a person through everything I’ve done on campus.

In what ways does PSU foster involvement and the ability for you to build community?
The vast number of different groups you can associate yourself with, the welcoming manner they show themselves and the great activities they are part of. Not only that but simply living in dorms or on campus in any sense, you will almost always bond with your neighbors in some way or another.

On-campus or off? Why?
Well aside from it being cheaper - it’s always just made more sense for me. Being closer to campus and being around other people. It makes it easier to live with your friends or just to be living closer to them.

Do you do any community service through the CSC or outdoor trips through the Outdoor Center?
Sadly no, Other than two canoeing trips with SAGE to moon Island my activities outside the school have been held back to the amount of responsibilities I’ve had on campus.

Do you visit the Fitness Center or do any Group Ex classes?
I’ve always tried to go to the Gym in the HUB with some frequency and have always failed. Hopefully this coming year my friend and I will hold to our plans and be going a few times a week, but it’s so much nicer to just lay on the couch and watch TV. But I also get plenty of exercise long boarding, sparing with my friend and just walking to and from class or the corner store. Going to college on the side of a mountain has the unintended benefit of making you more in shape.
