What is Classroom Technology Services?
PSU Classroom Technology Services is a division of the Learning Commons at Lamson. The Learning Commons takes an active role helping faculty improve teaching and learning through information technologies both for resident education and distance learning. The main function of Classroom Technology Services is to support the PSU academic community by providing the necessary instructional technology support to enhance learning objectives.
^
You must be a Plymouth State University faculty or staff member in order to reserve equipment. Additionally, students may reserve equipment for projects related to course work only. In some circumstances, student requests for equipment may require CTS coordination with the faculty member responsible for assigning the project.
Because of the limited amount of available equipment, and the fact that we exist to serve the campus classroom network, we must limit reservations to those requests which are academic in nature. Recognizing that PSU's role extends beyond the physical boundary of our campus, whenever possible, and never at the expense of academic pursuits, Classroom Technology Services may make equipment available for use in the community at large (see our rental rates).
Additionally, due to the variety of the services we provide, we are not able to accommodate long term reservations.
^
How do I reserve equipment for my class or meeting?
Reservations for equipment use must be made via our on-line requests form. Please provide us with ample notice (3 to 5 days) to accommodate your equipment request. As demand increases throughout the academic semester, a 7-10 day notice will be required. Requests submitted without the required notice will not be guaranteed.
^
Can I borrow equipment for off-campus use?
While our primary focus is on academic and campus community events, we do have some equipment which can be used for academic and professional purposes. Please use our online reservation form to request this equipment. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 535-2929 and we will be happy to assist you.

What are my responsibilities?
As a recipient of our inventory, you are responsible for any and all items that you borrow. We ask that you treat our property as if it belonged to you, and that you return our property in a timely manner. You must report any damages that may occur during the use of our electronics, and you must handle our equipment with proper care. Negligence in security may cause your department undo hardship if it finds itself having to reimburse us the cost of replacement for lost or stolen items.
If you currently have any item from our inventory and you have not returned it or made it available for return to our office, then you are considered overdue and all borrowing privileges can be suspended.
^
How is the equipment distributed?
Portable equipment such as laptops, projectors, and video cameras are available for pick up at the Lamson Learning Commons Information Desk.
Large scale equipment reservations for events will be set-up and retrieved by Classroom Technology staff. Typically we will arrive at your location 10-15 minutes prior to the class period or meeting time. Pickup is scheduled immediately following the class period or scheduled meeting end. A prompt pick-up is important for us, as the equipment we are retrieving is most likely being moved to fulfill another equipment request.
In order for us to meet your delivery needs, you must offer us a secure location. Please see the Equipment Security section for more information regarding secure locations.
^
What do I need to know about equipment security?
In general, security is a major issue. There is limited in-house inventory to work with and our budget does not allow for immediate replacement of stolen or lost materials. Because "lost" equipment takes both time and money to replace, we cannot afford to sponsor the loaning of equipment to anyone who has previously "misplaced" our property. For this reason we adhere to the rule of secure locations only for delivery and pickup.
Secure is defined as a locked facility (either classroom or office) with access upon demand during normal business hours for our delivery and pickup staff. Secure is also defined as any departmental office where reasonable monitoring of our equipment can be assured by that office staff. Under no circumstances will we deliver to an actual classroom or meeting room that is not under 24 hour lock and key.

How may I extend my reservation?
If you have an item belonging to Classroom Technology Services which you have borrowed and wish to use for a longer period of time, you MUST contact our office at 535-2929 to extend the period of your reservation or the item will either be picked up as scheduled or considered overdue.
Because of the volume of equipment that we move in a single day, the Information Desk staff are NOT authorized to extend a reservation as it is conceivably possible the item you are holding is scheduled to be redelivered to another location that very same day. A pre-approved extension will ensure your item stays where you need it when you need it.
