ITS Departmental Policy/Procedure

Development and Deployment of Information Technology Tools

ITS encourages the identification and exploration of technologies that can further the mission of PSU. To ensure that new technology is fully considered in light of on-going support, maintenance, budgeting, strategic value, and overall usefulness it is necessary that due process be followed.

  1. ITS staff members engaged in the exploration, research, development or testing of new or enhanced technologies should report to the Director of Information Technology the nature of the work and the possible benefits to the PSU user community.
  2. No software or hardware system will be adopted, pilot tested, promoted or implemented without the written approval of the Director or his/her designee.
  3. The Director will involve ITS staff in the evaluation of new technology and planning for the integration and implementation prior to the announced availability.
  4. The Director will maintain, with the assistance of the ITS staff, a list of the currently supported software and hardware that is considered essential to the computing activities of PSU.
  5. The Director will accept and evaluate with ITS staff assistance written proposals for the adoption of new technology standards, systems, software, hardware or concepts and will act with due diligence in consideration of such proposals.
