ITS Computing and Security Policies

University System of New Hampshire Policy on the Use of Technological Resources

This policy delegates to the institutions within USNH the authority to adopt policies governing access to and use of institutional technological resources, subject to certain general rules for which System-wide conformity is essential.

Acceptable Use

Plymouth State University maintains policies to provide the general conditions for use and management of information technology by the campus community and the responsibilities of those users regarding computing technology.

In addition there are policies that provide for the appropriate release of student and employee information in judicial, legal and safety situations.

User Accounts

There are policies in place at Plymouth State University that describe the necessary conditions upon which an account is created for students, employees and guests.

On Campus Internet Services

There are terms and conditions by which PSU provides Internet services to students in residence halls and university owned apartments.

Digital Millenium Act

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act provides protections to and describes procedures for ISP providers, including higher education institutions, concerning copyright materials on the Internet.

Departmental Servers and Shared Drives

Our institutional policy concerning departmental server systems and shared drives, and the users of those systems is intended to maintain consistency, assure availability, facilitate disaster-recovery, coordinate technical operations and apply sound management practices consistently throughout the institution.

Listserv

Any official listserv at Plymouth State University facilitates and disseminates information to eligible members and affiliates of the University. This service is available to current faculty, staff or student organizations upon request and approval.

myPlymouth Groups

In recognizing the value and potential of using web technology towards greater collaboration, sharing, learning and community building Plymouth State University provides access to the myPlymouth web portal Groups tool to members of the PSC community. An application process and community standards have been created in order to keep the system organized and operating effectively.

Management of Information Technology Tools

ITS  encourages the identification and exploration of technologies that can further the mission of PSU. To ensure that new technology is fully considered in light of on-going support, maintenance, budgeting, strategic value, and overall usefulness it is necessary that due process be followed through campus policy.

Access to and use of Plymouth State University's technological resources is subject to applicable laws of the State of New Hampshire.
