Mathematics, Bachelor of Science

122 credits

The general purpose of this degree is to provide a program of study in mathematics fostering general mathematical reasoning and the development of the mathematical tools needed for success. Students can choose from elective options tailored toward specific professional career goals. The elective options are Actuarial Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Middle School Teacher Certification, and Secondary Teacher Certification. This degree program requires a flexible core of 45 credits: 17 credits of specific courses plus 28 credits of mathematics electives, of which 21 are upper-level.

Candidates who have completed Applied Calculus I and II may then complete the major degree requirements for Calculus I and II by completing Calculus II. An appropriately numbered mathematics course in this Catalog that is not specified as a required major course and is not otherwise restricted, qualifies as a Mathematics elective. A mathematics course specified in an Option double counts, if it qualifies, as a Mathematics elective for the major degree requirements.
