The Mathematics Department offers two options that lead to teacher certification:
Middle School Certification (5-8) Option
Secondary Certification (7-12) Option
The conceptual framework for these two options as well as all teacher education programs at Plymouth State University is a shared set of beliefs and attitudes that serves as the foundation for each teacher education program. The framework clearly identifies for faculty, staff and students the core values that we share as a community. These core values-Commitment, Holism, Experience, Collaboration and Knowledge-are meaningfully integrated into all teacher education coursework, service learning and practice teaching experiences. To learn more about the CHECK framework please visit: http://www.plymouth.edu/teachercertification/framework.html
Students enrolled in these two options are required to complete the Teacher Certification Candidacy Application as soon as they declare their majors. This ensures that all updates and deadlines are sent to you. The Teacher Certification Handbook is online on the Teacher Certification Office web site: http://www.plymouth.edu/teachercertification/
As a future teacher (preservice teachers) it is important and valuable to belong to a professional organization. Please join the following organization at the discounted student rate:
