Admission and Auditions

Prospective majors are asked both to apply to the Office of Admissions and to contact the Chair of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance to arrange for an audition/interview::

Those planning to enroll in any degree program (major, interdisciplinary major or minor) in music, theatre or dance are required to arrange for an audition/interview.  Prospective students must contact the Department for an audition/interview by April 1, 2008 in order to be guaranteed an opportunity for Departmental admission during the 2008-2009 academic year!

Audition Dates

Audition/interview dates for Fall 2008 admission to the Department are scheduled for:

• Saturday, February 2, 2008: auditioners in Music or Theatre, except Music Theatre Performance
• Friday, February 29, 2008: auditioners in Theatre (including Music Theatre Performance) only
• Saturday, March 1, 2008: auditioners in Music only
• Monday, April 7, 2008: auditioners in Music, Theatre or Dance (all areas) 

Auditioners in Dance should see the Dance Programs-Audition Requirements section for information on scheduling an audition.

Note: Live auditions for admission to any music degree with voice as primary performance medium, or to the B.A. in Theatre Arts/Music Theatre Performance option, will be heard only on the dates stated above. Auditions/interviews for all other candidates can be arranged at other times throughout the academic year.

Talent Grants

All incoming first-year students in Music, Theatre and Dance will be considered for a limited number of Talent Grants to qualified first-year students in the performing arts. These awards, ranging in amount from $500 to $3000, are divided in two and credited toward fall and spring semesters, and are renewable annually.
