

Thom Untersee is adjunct instructor of tuba and euphonium. Mr. Untersee received his bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a master’s degree from the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University. Mr. Untersee has taught music in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire to students of all ages and is currently teaching band in the Lin-Wood Public Schools. He is involved in many music organizations and held positions on the boards of the New Hampshire Band Directors Association, New Hampshire Music Educators Association, and the Gordon Institute for Music Learning. As a performer, Mr. Untersee studied under various artists including: bass trombone with John Huling, euphonium with David Sporny and tuba with Sam Pilafian, Gary Buttery, and George Parks. Mr. Untersee has attended/performed in master classes and private lessons with Gene Pokorny, Dan Perantoni, Roger Bobo and Harvey Phillips. He attended two summers of The Boston University Tanglewood Institute and also the 1987 Keystone Brass Institute hosted by the Summit Brass ensemble. Mr. Untersee has enjoyed many performance experiences with numerous ensembles including: The Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra (MA), Philadelphia Orchestral Society (PA), Madison Jazz Orchestra (WI) and the Metropolitan Wind Symphony (MA). He continues to perform in New Hampshire area ensembles and resides in Holderness, NH with his wife and two children. Email:Thom Untersee
