Brian Fowler is a consultant on the Museum of the White Mountains’ exhibition, Beyond Granite: A History of Mountains, Bedrock, and People.
He is a retired Engineering Geologist, after 35 years of licensed consulting in the mining and heavy construction industries. He is the author of 24 peer-reviewed professional papers and geologic maps, including the only scientific treatise on the formation, stability, and collapse of the Old Man of The Mountain. In retirement, he participates in cooperative mapping projects for the U.S. and N.H. Geological Surveys and conducts both independent and cooperative field research on the deglaciation of the White Mountains and adjacent southeastern Quebec. He is a Past-President and Life Trustee of the Mount Washington Observatory and serves of the Board of Advisors for the Mountain Studies Institute in Silverton, Colorado.
