Carrie Brown is the educational consultant for the Museum of the White Mountains’ opening exhibition, Passing Through: The Allure of the White Mountains.
She has been a museum curator and exhibit developer for more than twenty years. Always emphasizing the connections among the individual, society, cultural change, and changing technology, she has produced exhibits on the history of the automobile, the bicycle, the airplane, and the Industrial Revolution in New England. She believes that every person who enters a museum exhibition should find some personal connection there. She also strives to make exhibits accessible to all, by combining text, images, and artifacts with hands-on, multi-media, and multi-sensory experiences, no matter what the topic.
Dr. Brown earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Virginia. In addition to her museum work, she is the author of books and articles on a wide range of topics, including nineteenth-century America writers, women in the labor movement, American folk tales, and the Civil War.
