Alcohol-Wise: On-Line Alcohol Education Program

PSU is using Alcohol-Wise as its on-line alcohol education program for incoming students. Alcohol-Wise is a web-based program designed to assist students in making healthy decisions regarding alcohol use in college. Information about how to access this new program will be available at all orientation sessions!

Dear Incoming Students:

How do I get your attention and not scare you? Or bore you… I have seen it firsthand – the devastating effects of alcohol on our students. Every year students are hospitalized, suspended or fail out, assaulted or assault others. I have seen many lives changed because of alcohol.

We respect the right of our students to make their own choices, support those who choose not to drink, and strive to create a community in which the behavior of drinkers doesn’t infringe on the rights of others.

In our efforts to help get you off on the right foot, we expect all entering students take and complete the online Alcohol-Wise course prior to coming to campus.. You will need a passing grade of 75% to receive credit for completing the course. The information that you enter is confidential; however, the University will be notified if you fail to compete the course.

To Complete the on-line alcohol education course,”Alcohol Wise,” go to www.3rdmilclassrooms.com Click on Begin Enrollment, and when asked for your Control Number, enter PLYSUAW. No need to include payment.

PSU is pretty typical of most colleges when it comes to alcohol use. Many students chose not to drink, and most who do make lower risk choices. The information in Alcohol-Wise is about helping people think through decisions related to alcohol use. On-line alcohol education is another strategy available for addressing the University’s ongoing goal of reducing high risk drinking.
