What’s Happening When!

June 6th – Transfer & Part-time Student Orientation Program(pdf)

WHEN, WHERE, WHAT, HOW? HAVE WE GOT ANSWERS FOR YOU!

The transfer & part-time orientation program schedule on this website outlines what will happen during the program. You should arrive at the Hartman Union Building (HUB) for check-in between 8:00am and 9:30am. Your lunch will be provided, and there will be an opportunity for you to meet with our orientation leaders who are current PSU students. The time spent in registration scheduling and I.D. card processing can widely vary. New students should plan for the orientation program to end by 4:30pm.

GETTING CREDIT, WHERE CREDIT IS DUE: TRANSFERRING IN YOUR COURSEWORK

At check-in you will receive an updated copy of your transfer course evaluation. If you have declared a major with us, you will also receive the first application of your transfer credits to your Plymouth program. Please note that you can not enroll in courses at Plymouth that have been satisfied by your transfer credits. It will be helpful to bring a copy of the catalog of your previous college(s), as well as the syllabi of your previous courses and a copy of your most recent semester’s grade report.

YES, YOU REALLY DO HAVE TO COME TO ORIENTATION

You attend this summer orientation program to finalize your registration for fall semester classes and to become acquainted with the University, its environment and its policies. Summer orientation is also the time to find answers to your questions such as, “Where do I get a permit to park on campus?” Sessions will be presented to familiarize you with academic procedures, class schedules and registration. You will have the opportunity to talk to academic department representatives about your first semester courses and will have time in your schedule to visit various offices with questions you may have about academic support, athletics, counseling, financial aid, residential life or student activities.

ONE-DAY OR TWO-DAY ORIENTATION? YOU’VE GOT OPTIONS!

The two-day orientation sessions are designed to provide an extensive and more comprehensive overview of life at PSU. Generally, the two-day sessions are of greatest benefit to entering first year students who have no prior experience in a university setting. If, however, you have interest in attending one of our two-day sessions, please call us at 800-842-6900 to discuss with you whether the one-day or a two-day session will best suit your particular needs. The two-day sessions are  June 1 & 2, June 8 & 9, June 11 & 12, and June 15 & 16.

NO IF’S, AND’S or BUT’S – YOU GOTTA’ COME TO ORIENTATION (AND YOU’LL LIKE IT)!

Most of your fall semester courses will be pre-selected for you by the Registrar’s staff in consultation with the academic faculty from your selected major. During June orientation, you will finalize your registration for fall semester classes and become acquainted with academic procedures. June orientation is also the time to:

  • meet other first year students and orientation leaders, making new friends along the way
  • find answers to your questions
  • stay on campus to get a feel for residence hall life and the dining program
  • talk with academic department representatives about your first semester courses

BRING MOM AND DAD ALONG! COME ON, IT’LL BE FUN!

We realize the interest parents have in being involved as your prepare to leave for college, so we have provided specific programs in our schedule tailored to parent concerns. Our overall program remains centered on academic advising, registration and orientation of the new students, and in some instances, the program for students and parents overlaps. Please encourage your parents to come and participate in the program. The program fee for each family/guest member attending with you is $65.00. Students do not have to pay a fee for the orientation program, as it is built into the fall semester bill. Only family/guests attending with their students have a program fee. Details are provided on the orientation reservation form via myPlymouth.
