PSU Students among those honored at State Intern Banquet

CONCORD—The 2008 N.H. Intern Program Reception was held recently with UNH President Mark Huddleston as guest speaker who stated, "Intern programs offer learning experiences not found in textbooks. This State Capital Program in Executive Councilor Raymond Burton's Office is very unique and has been most beneficial for the last 30 years. The program has had 129 interns to date. UNH is proud to have had many interns earning academic credit in Burton's Office." Former N.H. Congressman Bill Zeliff of Jackson also noted the value of Washington, DC youth experiences during his tenure as a US Congressman and now as a Federal Trade Association Representative. Councilor Ray Burton started the N.H. Intern Program in 1977 in his first term as Councilor for District One. Over the last 30 years there have been 129 Interns from Universities and Colleges from N.H. and the rest of New England.

Keene State College Senior Joun Ouellette is currently interning and spoke to the group, stating his experience has opened doors and learning opportunities that he never believed possible and looks forward to continuing with the program for next semester. Former Interns attending: Bruce Berke-New England College 1981, UNH Interns John Davis 1985, James Martin 1993, Megan McPherson 2003, Rory Sheehan 2004, Sam Schweizer 2005, Chole Rochon 2007, Plymouth State University Interns; Lynn Brownell 1997, Peter Laufenberg 2007, and Trevor Chandler, Plymouth State University Speaker of the Student Body Senate was also present.
