ECAC/LEC Honor Roll

January 12th, 1998 by Adam

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – For the first time in 1998, a Plymouth State College men’s basketball player has received recognition from the Little East Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference.

Senior Ace Elefteriadis (Belmont, MA), a 6’3″ forward, was named to both the ECAC New England and LEC Weekly Honor Rolls. In PSC’s only game last week, a tough 74-70 loss to five-time defending champion UMass Dartmouth, Elefteriadis led all scorers with 28 points. He connected on 10-of-18 field goal attempts, including 5-of-8 three-pointers, along with three free throws, two rebounds and a steal. His 28 points matched Plymouth State’s single game high this season.

PSC’s other game scheduled for last week – Thursday at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine – was postponed due to a power outage caused by the region’s ice storm. The game has been rescheduled for this Thursday (Jan. 15) at Bowdoin (7:30 p.m.).

The loss at UMass Dartmouth was PSC’s first conference setback this season, as the Panthers fall to 2-1 in the LEC and 6-3 overall. The Bowdoin game will be sandwiched in between a pair of LEC games this week – Tuesday (Jan. 13) at UMass Boston (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (Jan. 17) at home against Eastern Connecticut (4:00 p.m.).

The Panthers have four players averaging in double figures in scoring. Junior point guard Adam DeChristopher (Brockton, MA) leads the team with 17.3 points per game, followed by Elefteriadis with 14.2 ppg, junior Eric McQueen (Lawrence, MA) with 10.3 ppg off the bench, and senior center Doug Stokes (Wyckoff, NJ), a transfer from the College of New Jersey, with 10.1 points and a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per outing.
