January 26th, 1998 by Adam

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A Plymouth State College men’s basketball player has been selected to the Little East Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his role in two conference wins for PSC last week.

Junior Eric McQueen (Lawrence, MA), a 6’2″ guard, averaged 16.5 points in two outings, shooting 61.9 percent from the floor (13-of-21) and 57.1 percent from three-point range (4-of-7). He led PSC last Tuesday with 16 points in a 87-63 win over Southern Maine, and shared high scoring honors with 17 points Saturday in a 75-59 triumph at Western Connecticut. McQueen also added seven assists, five rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal.

McQueen becomes the third PSC player this season to be selected to the LEC Weekly Honor, joining Adam DeChristopher (Brockton, MA) and Ace Elefteriadis (Belmont, MA), who have each made the list twice.

The Panthers, 10-4 overall, are still tied for first place in the LEC with five-time defending champion UMass Dartmouth, both at 6-1 in conference games. PSC plays a key conference game Tuesday (Jan. 27) at Keene State (7:30 p.m.), and returns home Friday (Jan. 30) to host Castleton State in a non-conference game (7:00 p.m.).

The Panthers continue to have four players averaging points in double figures. DeChristopher leads the team with 15.6 ppg, and Elefteriadis is second with 14.9 ppg, the fourth and fifth ranked scorers in the LEC. McQueen checks in with 13.1 ppg, ninth-best in the conference, and senior center Doug Stokes (Wyckoff, NJ), a transfer from the College of New Jersey, is averaging 10.4 points.
