Departmental Newsletters

Does your department produce a newsletter for your alumni? When you're preparing your newsletter, remember to build about a week into your schedule for the Office of Public Relations to do an editorial and design review. As with all publications going off campus, this helps the University maintain both accuracy and consistency in our publications.

Editorial Review

  • Correct any misspellings or grammatical errors that may have crept in
  • Convert to Chicago Style and reference the PSU Style Guide (PDF Format 174 Kb)
  • Correct any problems with text flow, line breaks, etc.

Design Review

  • Make sure any images are approved to use and meet printing specifications
  • Recommend any design changes that will improve the newsletter
  • Recommend any design changes needed for consistency with PSU style guidelines

What to Do

  1. E-mail us your file and we can make any corrections directly to the document (this is the fastest way). Or send us a hard (paper) copy or a PDF file and we can mark the changes for you to make. If you make the changes yourself, we'll need to see a final copy.
  2. After your newsletter is approved, we'll let the Alumni Office know that they can release your mailing labels.

Please take a moment to consider these Helpful Hints on Mailings.
