You provide both text and images.

Text

  • Send your draft text to your editor by the deadline on your publication project agreement. E-mailing an attached Word file is the best way, but we will accept hard (paper) copy as well.
  • If you need help developing your text, the OPR editor assigned to your project will be happy to help you.
  • The Word file should contain all text, in order, with no formatting beyond bold and italic
  • Any files in other formats must be discussed with your project manager to see if they are compatible.
  • Editing is not intended to change the meaning of what you have written, but to ensure that all PSU publications are grammatically correct and follow a consistent style. PSU follows AP Style.
  • If anyone other than you must also approve the copy or be involved at key decision-making points, you will need to be the one to get that approval.

Images

  • Discuss the photographs or graphic images that you want to include at the intake meeting.
  • Your project manager and designer will evaluate the quality and appropriateness of your images for publication.
  • We can arrange for you to review a selection of stock photos or hire a photographer.
  • Photos should be:
    • Actual print or slide photographs
    • JPEGS or TIFFS of at least one megabyte (digital images must be 300 dpi at the size at which they will be printed)
    • Labeled with the names and locations of those pictured
    • Labeled with the name of the person to whom to return the picture
    • Accompanied by a photo release form for each person pictured (your project manager can give you photo release forms to use)

When both you and your project manager agree that the text and images are complete, your project manager will pass the job to the designer.
