Distribution

The Office of Public Relations does not handle mailings, but we will be happy to include in the request for bid (RFB) an additional cost line for mailing services (such as stuffing, mail merging, wafer-sealing, sorting, bar coding, etc.) This means that

  • The cost of printing and mail prep will be consolidated on one purchase order or P-card transaction and
  • You do not need to track the delivery from the printer to the mail house.

You will need to make arrangements either with the PSU Bulk Mail Center or the designated mail house to send your mailing list up to two weeks prior to the printed piece being delivered. The PSU Bulk Mail Center or the mail house will tell you when they need your list as well as what format to use.

You will also need to initiate payment in advance for the postage if you are using an off-campus mail house. The mail house will determine the postage estimate only after they have received your list and processed it along with the weight of the piece to be mailed. Plan on contacting the mail house as soon as we have notified you of the bid closing. The postage estimate is a separate process and is not included in the RFB. If using the PSU Bulk Mail Center, prepayment of postage is not necessary.
