Referral Questions

The Counseling and Human Relations Center welcomes parents’ calls if you ever have any concerns or questions regarding how best to support your son or daughter.  We can provide consultations to parents regarding:

  • How to assist a student experiencing a difficult situation
  • How to refer a student to the Counseling Center
  • If you have questions about our services
  • How to locate a referral for mental health treatments outside of the University

Our telephone number is (603) 535-2461, and our hours of operation Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Tuesdays 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Counseling Services are free of charge for PSU undergraduate and graduate students. Counseling is available during the Fall, Winter, and Spring semesters/terms, and there are also limited hours of operation during the summer.

Student Confidentiality and Parents

We will not discuss your student’s counseling attendance or progress without their written authorization, except in rare instances.  These usually involve danger to self or others, or a court order requiring disclosure.
