Information Technology Services (ITS) provides students, faculty and staff with a tool to monitor their on‐campus printing. Each user is provided with a quota which totals $40 (equivalent to 800 black & white pages) worth of free printing privileges per academic year. This free print quota is provided in two biannual installments ‐ $20 on July 1st for the period which runs through December 31st and another $20 on January 1st for the period which runs through June 30th.
Unused portions of the “free” allotment of print quota will NOT be carried forward to the next allotment period, NOR will it be refunded upon graduating or leaving the University, so it is important to purchase only the minimum amount required to meet your needs.
Users who exceed their $20 quota during either the fall or spring allotment period will need to purchase additional pages equivalent to 50, 100, 150 or 200 b/w page increments. Purchasing additional pages is done through the “Increase my Print Quota” link found under the Dashboard section of the Go Sidebar within myPlymouth.
Printing is not available from the student Residential Network, within residence halls, except wirelessly using the PrintNomad (see below). In addition, faculty and staff should use their departmental printers and/or copiers to print materials for their courses, as printing to any public printer will deduct from each individual staff/faculty member’s allotted print quota.
Location of Printers
Print quota applies to printing in all public and classroom computing facilities including, but not limited to:
- Hartman Union Building computer cluster
- Lamson Learning Commons
- Residence Halls and Langdon Woods computer labs
- Most departmental computer labs
Wireless Printing with Print Nomad
Print Nomad enables users to print wirelessly from their laptop computers from any location served by the PSU wireless network. Users connected to the PSU Secure Guest wireless network will not be able to print using PrintNomad, and must use the PSU STUDENT wireless network (requires myPlymouth username and password to gain access). Please keep in mind that using Print Nomad will automatically deduct from your print quota each time you use it, exactly as if you printed from any cluster computer.
What to expect when you print
When a printing to a public or academic lab printer the job will automatically print and deduct the number of pages printed from the print quota.
- Print jobs sent to black and white printers will be deducted from the user’s quota at the rate of five‐cents per page.
- Print jobs sent to color printers will be deducted from the user’s quota at the rate of seven‐cents per page.
Users may check their print quota balance under the Dashboard section of the Go Sidebar within myPlymouth. Any questions should be submitted to helpdesk@plymouth.edu.
Credit / Refund Policy
Included in your biannual allotment of print quota is a 10% allowance in case a printer jams or misprints your paper. ITS is unable to credit your print quota for:
- misprints or jobs sent to the wrong printer
- paper jams
- other mechanical or operational errors caused by the printer.
ITS is also unable to credit your print quota if you believe someone else has printed something from your account because it is your responsibility to:
- log off any public computer when you are done
- keep your password updated and safe
If you believe that the print accounting system has charged you in error, please contact the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@plymouth.edu or call (603) 535‐2929.
