Voice Services

Information Technology Services provides voice services for the faculty, staff and students of Plymouth State University. The maintenance and installation of telephone lines, phones, and other related equipment is provided by Infrastructure Services team.  Any phone problems such as static on lines, no dial tone, damage to line cords, wall jacks, ringers and the phone itself should be reported to ITS Help Desk at (603)535-2929.

Information we will need for prompt service when reporting a problem includes:

  • The phone number of the telephone which needs to be fixed
  • The jack number (location on the jack outlet)
  • The building/room number
  • Description of the problem
  • Who can we contact and their phone number

Undergraduate Student Services:

Each undergraduate student is assigned a “virtual” telephone number, which enables callers to leave a voicemail. When a caller leaves a voicemail for you, the voicemail is sent to your Plymouth State email address as an audio (.wav) file.  Your “virtual” telephone number will remain the same as long as you are continuously enrolled as an undergraduate.

To determine what your number is, log into myPlymouth and click on the “Services” tab. In the main body of the window you will find a channel called “myProfile” and you will see your virtual voice number listed. Your virtual voicemail number will also be published in the on-campus telephone directory.

If you are interested in being notified of new voicemail messages as they arrive, you can also add a message notification address, such as your cell phone SMS address or an alternative email address. Simply log into myPlymouth and edit your virtual voicemail settings in the myProfile channel on the Services tab. For help accessing your virtual voicemail messages or setting up your cell phone to receive a notification when you receive a voicemail, please stop by the Help Desk in Lamson Library.

Public Telephones & Blue Light Emergency Phones

Courtesy telephones and Blue Light/Emergency telephones are also maintained by Infrastructure Services. These public telephones can be found at various locations on campus. If you know of a damaged or out-of-service emergency telephone, contact the ITS Help Desk at (603) 535-2929 and let staff know the location of the telephone and a description of the problem.
