Waste and Recycling

WHY RECYCLE?

Trash disposal is a problem of rapidly growing proportion in the nation, the state of New Hampshire, as well as in the Town of Plymouth and here on the PSU campus. On the average, each New Hampshire resident produces 3.5 pounds of waste each day. In one year residents of the state produce enough waste to fill almost 13,000 train cars, which would stretch from Littleton all the way to Nashua! Here at PSU we create nearly 1,000 tons of waste each year. And you still ask, “why recycle?”. Well, here you go:

  • Recycling reduces the amount of waste to be disposed of…
  • Recycling conserves natural resources…
  • Recycling saves energy…
  • Recycling reduces air pollution…
  • Recycling generates revenue…
  • Recycling provides jobs…
  • Recycling is mandated in the Town of Plymouth and here on the PSU campus…
